Time After Time/Soap World

Over the past month or so I find myself frustrated, aggrivated, annoyed, disgusted and wanting to fast forward a lot more than usual.

I do FF at times, mostly when there is too much violence and idiocy for me to take but now I am at the point where I am fed up with the writing, the same storylines being repeated over and over.

The silliness of some of the plots is sending me to Roadrunner cartoons instead.

How can we stay with soaps when the villain trying to play Heath Ledger's Joker turns out to look more like Bozo the Clown? Well honk honk, beep beep I am ready to run.

When the "heroine" sleeps with another daughters boyfriend and is still made to look like the injured party I am ready to watch Judge Judy instead. I know I will get justice there.

I am tired of all of these "fill in" characters getting more time than the stars and when I have to watch boring annoying teens and shirtless actors who cannot act while the most magnificent actress on the planet is sent off to an island. I want to go to that island and forget soaps altogether.

Most of the soaps bring  on characters to appeal to the younger viewers over the summer months.They think this will bring more teen viewers but I am sure they lose more adults than gain teens. Many teens will tell you they are watching soaps to see the core families, not characters who have no connection to those  characters.

As for As The World Turns I am stymied by the bad writing when they should be giving their best They have a heroine very few people root for because she is not the "real" character. I for one do not care if she gets back with her true love since she is not the "real" true love.In my opinion this was one of the reasons they began to "fail".

Again they keep bringing on new characters instead of telling the story everyone wants to see. The core families living their lives, having their problems and solving them. Instead they bring people on no one knows or cares about and the storylines are meaningless. They will be gone in another month and we are not being given enough of the Hughes family. they are jewels. Where is Emma Snyder? How dare they keep her in a closet while Janet takes over her kitchen? Colleen Zenk Pinter, another jewel is acting her heart out in a silly senseless storyline just to bring back another character nobody cares about.

Shame on you Chris Goutman and Jean Passanante. You owe your faithful audience much much more.

I did not name the soaps I have mentioned because most of it pertains to more than one.

Honestly there is much good in soaps especially the actors who are talented, well trained professionals who give 150% and deserve as much acclaim and enumeration as they can get. They also deserve the bestwriting possible, not reruns and fill ins.

Just give the best of your soap the best writing and we will have no problems sticking with you.
