Time After Time/Soap World

Acting is everything and should always come first In daytime. Sadly that has not always been the case and more often than not acting has the last thing on the minds of soaps when casting actresses for major roles on their shows. The curious case has gotten even worse with The Young and The Restless who once touted the best damn cast in daytime.  It was a 20 to 1 ratio of those actors who could act on the show verses the ones that "alright" and yet were still bette rthan most actors on other soaps. 

We've now seen our screen littered with the likes of Clementine Ford, Christel Kahlil, Haley Erin, Vanessa Marano, and Amelia Heinle. (Side Note: Hey Vail Bloom has improved.) Who just are painful to watch for more than a few seconds on air. Nope these women have the acting talent of guppies. They need that ballet style acting training where the instructor hits your leg with a stick if you don't emote real emotions or BRING IT every time you are you are on set. 

What's worse is when some fans point to their "beauty" as a substitute for bad acting or my favorite excuse "the writing."  Too young some of them are you may say?  Well then all you have to do is look at a 16 year old girl from One Life To Live who is holding her own with the likes of 6 time Emmy winner Erika Sleazak or remember the original Abby on Y&R who was all of 6 years old and BROUGHT IT. And hey there are several child stars who littered Hollywood in the past decade so there is no excuse. 

With that being said let's take a look at the top 5 women from Y&R who BROUGHT IT from day 1. What they did on the screen in their role and/or roles was something magical and showed that they had the acting chops to carry a forntburner storyline. They were never boring and they could even rise above bad writing to let you know that it wasn't their acting that was the issue.  One particular actress on this list was the only one to craft her own character into something so special, rewrite the scripts to make her character culturally relevant, and so unique that she became something of a daytime legend and won 11 awards because of it. Another actress on this list is a two time Emmy winner and was once called a “diva in the making.”  Then there is the actress who has known by two names from two sides of the track. We also have an actress who refuses to come back and give us what we want out of a certain character currently on canvas. And well you know finally there is the best nut in daytime.  So check out the list and see who they are.
