Top 5 African American Male Actors In Daytime

Posted by timeaftertime on October 21, 2009 at 11:12 AM

Nothing spells drama like the brooding men dazzling the women, with their money, charm, wit, and power. In some cases it's the "down to earth" man from the wrong side of the tracks that gets the good girl from the "well to do" family.  It's all in a soap day's work.   And that is what consists of the Brotha's aka African American men that make up this list.

There is often a vast difference, especially when you look at it today; when it comes to cast the prominent AA men on soaps.  At least 90% of the time they have gotten it right and continue to get it right in that percentile.

The men often fall into two categories:

  1. The smooth urban brotha with a chip on his shoulder trying to move past his "past" to build a concrete future for himself all the while wooing the women folk with a flash of his smile and show of his pecks.
  2. Mr. Conservative... And we don"t mean politically.  This brotha is the one who has followed all the rules and has the means to provide a stable life both financially and emotionally to his female counterpart.  He's also a family man and always is in pursuit of the wife, kids, and a home with a three car garage.

On a rare occasion we witness the third type which is the combination of the two with a dose of emotional sensitivity.   And this often sends the female fans running wild to get a their daily fix of the man they wish their man was just a bit more like.  Ah, one can only dream.  And soaps are what dreams are made of ladies.

So now I am going to list for you the all-time top 5 African American male actors in daytime.  These are the actors that had a combination of presence and talent to take whatever was on the script and turn it to gold.

Good list but you missed Timothy Stickney! Clearly, the best black villain in the history of daytime.

I love this list. I could think of others you probably thought about to add. But this is the complete best list. I didn't know that about the Mr. Reynolds. Thanks!
