As the Daytime Emmy’s are just days away we here at Time After Time /Soap World decided to share our Emmy picks. So check out the list below and see who we believe deserves to take home the golden prize on Sunday and then share with us your Emmy picks.
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Jon Lindstrom, As the World Turns
Michael Park, As the World Turns
James Scott, Days of our Lives
Peter Bergman, The Young and the Restless
Doug Davidson, The Young and the Restless
David: I'm rooting for James Scott (EJ) all the way. Scott has given some of the greatest dramatic performaces of all the nominees this year and one of the only 3 actors (Peter and Micheal being the other two) on this list who is not in the wrong category. Watching the fallout from the baby switch storyline sealed the deal for him as one of Days Of Our Lives top 5 performers.
Donald: James Scott (EJ). James has the makings of a bona-fide villain in the form of E.J. DiMera. He made the viewers feel sorry for E.J. when he discovered he was the biological father of a baby he never knew existed, thanks to Sami's lies. E.J. totally ripped Sami to shreds and you felt the emotion from James's soul.
Kathy: Doug Davidson (Paul Williams). Davidson is more subtle, yet consistent with his work, even when given the crappy "doppleganger" storyline to play against. His scenes with Stacey Haiduk (Emily/Patty) were great.
Missnanse: Peter Bergman (Jack) and it makes sense I think Peter is the quintessential actor he has it all, the looks the most real portrayal and the acting chops needed to pull it off.
---------
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Bobbie Eakes, All My Children
Maura West, As the World Turns
Sarah Brown, General Hospital
Crystal Chappell, Guiding Light
Michelle Stafford, The Young and the Restless
David: Crystal Chappell (Olivia) had the best storyline for the female performers in 2009 period. She also carried the show and stole Kim Zimmer's thunder. Chappell as Olivia made you feel the love and conflict she had coming to terms with her love for Natalia (Jessica Leccia). Such a depth of emotion was displayed that the actress deserves to win.
Donald: Sarah Brown (Claudia). Sarah is a seasoned veteran and Emmy-winner, so there is no question to her acting abilities. She really nailed it as her reincarnated character, Claudia Zacchara, grieved over the death of her unborn child and it was understandable when she vowed vengeance against her own stepdaughter.
Missnanse: Michelle Stafford (Phyllis). I think she is overlooked and underrated.
---------
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series
Ricky Paull Goldin, All My Children
Bradford Anderson, General Hospital
Jonathan Jackson, General Hospital
Brian Kerwin, One Life to Live
Billy Miller, The Young and the Restless
David: Billy Miller (Billy) "popped" off the screen in 2009 and became the single reason to watch Y&R from my vantage point. He came to work to ACT and has never given us a dull moment. Miller has managed to upstage both Peter Bergman and Eric Braeden (Jack and Victor) to become the new face of Y&R and the future of the show. He's a winner in every sense of the word.
Donald: Brian Kerwin (Charlie) Losing a child is tremendous for anyone who has experienced it and seeing the scenes when Charlie grieved for the death of his son, Jared, made me cry. Brian definitely deserves this Emmy.
Kathy: Billy Miller (Billy Abbott). Miller has brought something to Y&R that has sadly been lacking of late: a sense of humor & "swagger". He reminds me alot of Jack Abbott's character (as portrayed by Terry Lester) back in the day during Bill Bell Sr.'s reign. His character literally eats up the canvas & eclipses everyone who is in the scene. He has even managed to upstage Eric Braeden once or twice.
Missnanse: Billy Miller (Billy) has just taken the role of Billy and made it fun and sexy and so likeable. he's a natural.
---------
Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series
Julie Pinson, As the World Turns
Arianne Zucker, Days of our Lives
Carolyn Hennesy, General Hospital
Beth Chamberlin, Guiding Light
Bree Williamson, One Life to Live
David: Arianne Zucker (Nicole) is who I am pulling for. She was another daytime starlet from days who gave her all as the center piece of the baby switch storyline. She gave raw emotions as she confessed to her crimes and at times made you feel sorry for Nicole and want to believe that she was doing what was right to keep her family together.
Donald: Bree Williamson (Jessica). I am going to declare that Bree was robbed in 2009 of her deserving Emmy, so she will take it home this year. I cried till it hurt when Jessica realized she gave birth to a stillborn baby when she lived as her wily alter-ego, Tess.
Missnanse: Supporting actress has to be julie Pinson (Janet), she has played every emotion possible and played the brilliantly, another underrated actress.
---------
Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series
Marnie Schulenburg, As the World Turns
Molly Burnett, Days of our Lives
Shelley Hennig, Days of our Lives
Julie Marie Berman, General Hospital
Christel Khalil, The Young and the Restless
David: Julie Marie Berman (LuLu). She is the only actress on that list that can act. And that's a check you can take to the bank and cash.
Donald: Julie Marie Berman (LuLu). Julie has amazed me from day one when she first joined the cast in 2005. She proves how Lulu can tell her cheating boyfriend, Johnny, and rival/co-worker/friend, Maxie, where to stick it after finding out they kissed. She reminds me of a soap version of Carrie Underwood.
---------
Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series
Drew Tyler Bell, The Bold and the Beautiful
Dylan Patton, Days of our Lives
Drew Garrett, General Hospital
Zack Conroy, Guiding Light
Scott Clifton, One Life to Live
David: Drew Garrett (Michael). He had the material, the strongest acting chops, and drive to pull off complex stories and writing with ease.
Donald: Drew Garrett (Michael). Drew won me over as an aged Michael Corinthos, who didn't recover from his brain-damaged coma 100 percent. It was a chilling moment when Michael went over how he murdered Claudia.
---------
Outstanding Drama Series
All My Children
The Bold and the Beautiful
General Hospital
The Young and the Restless
David: General Hospital and I can't stand the direction the show has taken but it's the only soap where "everyone" could act in 2009 and despite my hate for the direction the show has taken it beat anything the other shows on the list had going in 2009 as it stayed true to the mob that Guza built (Yuck!) But it deserves to win none the less.
Donald: General Hospital. The carnival episodes were brillantly acted and written. Not only did Edward Quartermaine's rushing car cause death and destruction, but the ramifications opened up fresh wounds down the line. Dominic Zamprogna was proven as a revelation as he definitely stepped up his game as Dante Falconeri.
Missnanse: The Young and The Restless.
---------
Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team
All My Children
As the World TUrns
The Bold and the Beautiful
The Young and the Restless
David: No soap on this list deserves it. The writing for The Young and The Restless was like watching bad B-movies and old television series poorly executed. It was completely a plot-driven mess with bad dialogue. Ditto that with Chuck Pratts writing on All My Children. Meanwhile, The Bold and The Beautiful told the same tales for the 1000th time and As The World Turns tried to stay on top amid cancellation. So i'm rooting for the little dog that could As The World Turns.
Donald: As The World turns. I personally love how the writers have made Luke Snyder and Noah Mayer the first gay supercouple without it being the "gay" storyline. It is refreshing to see that they are shattering societal stereotypes of gay promiscuity.
Missnanse: The Young and The Restless.

GH
You know Y&R is currently the joke of soap press. It's just not the soap of the Bill Bell days. They have taken it and turned it into something unrecognizable.
You know i still see it leading in the ratings and I for one enjoy it . I find it better than DOOL, GH and surely last nights w2inner B&B.
But I hear you.

Yeah, David, totally agree with your statement. The show is becoming a joke and not the Bill Bell era and something got to be done to save it. Days is the comeback Sony show and Y&R is the joke. The writing team needs to go.
But I hear you.

You missed my Younger actress who I think should go to Julie who I feel is finally coming into the role and Molly. who though silly and shrill spmetimes she can pull off real emotion when she has to.
Scott Clifton for Younger male, he was wonderful on OLTL and he was asked to play the gammit of emotion and came through.
Young and the Restless will always have the Best acting , the Best writing and the best Soap on television.
